The research and development that the Jetworks 2 Stroke Spec Water box took an embarrassingly long time—mostly because we obsessed over 3 goals: performance, better exhaust tone than other brands, and, above all else, near-perfect fitment for use in various hulls.
A lot of older aftermarket ones were open-style, which messed with carb tuning—especially on Yamahas. Back when Factory Pipe Products (the guys who made the best pipes) introduced their aftermarket waterbox for the Yamaha Waveblaster 1, their first version dropped 100-250 RPM after install. Huge deal in the Stock or Limited racing class. They went back to the dyno and added just enough backpressure—and boom, rpm was back. They changed every new waterbox and even recalled all the first batch of Waterboxes they sold to fix them. With the revised waterbox, no jetting tweaks needed. Bolt on, ride.
We've built thousands of skis and hated other boxes—always a nightmare, jetting that worked on a stock or Factory Pipe Waterbox's suddenly needed three carb pulls to get it to idle and respond to our standards. Plus, tons of people loved them at first... until they rode it a few times, then complaints of it being too loud, too shrill—like nails on a chalkboard. Customers often were willing to pay to have us swap back to the stock waterbox.
As far as fitment? The Yamaha Superjet Platform rules the freestyle, surf, and recreational riding scene, and many of these use aftermarket hulls that feature a short nose and tons of rocker, making waterboxes that fit regular Superjets a headache to cram in an aftermarket hull.
Our three goals: no tuning headaches, ear-friendly performance sound, and universal fit. We think we nailed it.
It's tiny—smaller than most—this has allowed for maximum adjustability for fitment in various hulls! Creates a unique crackle-ly, deep sound, louder than stock but not so obnoxiously loud that it starts to give you or your neighbors a headache! And no special jetting changes required!
More importantly, this box has been water tested from 701's to 1200cc two-cylinder and 3-cylinder engines from Yamaha / Kawasaki / Sea-Doo!
